If you are interested in hosting a fundraiser for The C.O.D.E. Initiative, make sure you let us know! We’d love to share your story, help answer any questions, and point you to any resources we have. We would also love to add your fundraiser to our website so others know to come and support you.

But where do I start?
Here are some steps to think about when planning your fundraiser.
Before starting your fundraiser make sure you contact us using the form at the bottom of the page.

Set a target
Set a target of how much you hope to raise in donations and how much of your revenue you will be donating.

Choose what will be happening at your fundraising event. If in doubt we have a few event ideas listed below!

When and where
Pick a location to host your fundraiser as well as a time and date. Choose one accessible and convenient to your desired attendees.

Spread the word
Time to tell the world! Post on social media, put up flyers and tell your family and friends. Make sure you say what you’re doing as well as why you’re doing it.

FAQ
How can I donate the money I raise?
All donations can be made through our website by visiting our donate page.
Can I mail you the money?
Please do not mail us cash. Due to the safety risk, we ask that all donations be made online.
Will The C.O.D.E. Initiative pay for the expenses of running my event?
The expenses of running the event are the event organizer’s responsibility.
Does The CODE Initiative’s insurance cover my event?
Unfortunately not. The event organizer is responsible for insuring their own event.
When setting up your fundraiser please keep in mind that while we are more than happy to help, there are some things we cannot do.
What we can do:
Supply you with a donations form
Issue tax receipts to donors
Organization brochures
Provide you with a poster template
Help you promote your event on social media
Promote your event on our website
If available supply you with volunteer support
If requested and available, a representative from The C.O.D.E. Initiative may come to speak at your event
Supply you with a script to help you explain what we do
Answer any question you may have about our organization
What we can’t do:
Plan and execute your fundraiser event
Fund or reimburse any expenses
Guarantee the attendance of staff and volunteers
Provide you with donor lists/ information
Obtain any licenses needed for your event (gaming license, serving license etc.)
Obtain insurance for your event
Solicit donations or support from other companies and organizations
Issue tax receipts to donations not received directly to The C.O.D.E. Initiative Foundation

Terms and Conditions
1. I give permission to The C.O.D.E. Initiative Foundation to post our third-party event on social media and their website.
2. All printed and promotional materials must be approved by The C.O.D.E. Initiative Foundation prior to printing (these include but are not limited to posters, flyers, social media posts, buttons etc.). All promotional material must clearly state the ammount of proceeds to be received from the event (i.e. all proceeds, net proceeds, partial proceeds, or percentage of proceeds).
3. No alteration of our logo is permitted. The C.O.D.E. Initiative Foundation has sole jurisdiction over the use of our logo and any promotional materials created using the name and/or logo. All materials bearing The C.O.D.E. Initiative Foundation’s logo must be approved by The C.O.D.E. Initiative Foundation prior to printing and usage. The C.O.D.E. Initiative Foundation may require you to use our ‘in partnership’ logo.
4. The third-party events and fundraisers may not be for the purpose of obtaining business contacts to benefit the third party's business; this may be considered a conflict of interest.
5. If for any reason we feel that our reputation may be compromised we reserve the right to cancel our agreement. We are not responsible for any financial or other damages that may result from such cancellation.
6. The C.O.D.E. Initiative Foundation is not responsible for any physical, personal and financial liability that may arise from sporting events. We highly recommend the usage of waiver forms for such events.
7. All third-party events and fundraisers require appropriate insurance coverage to be obtained by the organizers of the event. The C.O.D.E. Initiative Foundation’s event insurance does not cover third-party events.
8. Event organizers shall acquire all permits and licenses and are responsible for all advertising for the event. The C.O.D.E. Initiative Foundation may promote the event on our website and social media provided we receive at least half the proceeds of the event.
9. The C.O.D.E. Initiative Foundation is not responsible for any event expenses, or any financial loss, or unsettled accounts as a result of this third-party event.
10. Tax receipts will be issued at the sole discretion of The C.O.D.E. Initiative according to Canada Revenue Agency and MUST be agreed upon prior to the event. When forwarding a list of donors for the purpose of issuing tax receipts, individuals must be made aware of the fact that organizers are forwarding this information to The C.O.D.E. Initiative Foundation. Individuals must be given the option of not having their information forwarded, or opting out.
11. In order to conduct a lottery, bingo, raffle, 50/50 draw, or any game of chance, a license must be obtained by the charity. The C.O.D.E. Initiative Foundation will have no involvement in obtaining such a license and does NOT lend its name to lottery licenses run by independent third-party events.
12. The C.O.D.E. Initiative Foundation is not responsible for selling tickets to the thrid-party event.
13. Any sponsors supporting your event must be in line with The C.O.D.E. Initiative Foundation’s mission and values. We will not support events whose donors promote the use of guns, violence, inequality, ableism, and discrimination towards minority groups.
14. The C.O.D.E. Foundation Initiative may possibly provide if requested and available, volunteer support, a speaker or representative at the event, and/or promotional materials.
15. By sharing fundraiser photos with The C.O.D.E. Initiative Foundation you allow The C.O.D.E. Initiative to post photos on social media, and use photos for commercial use at any point in time.
16. You recognize and concur that all photos shared with The C.O.D.E. Initiative Foundation are your own and free to be used commercially by The C.O.D.E. Initiative Foundation for prolonged and indeterminate use.
17. All materials lent to you by The C.O.D.E. Initiative must be returned in the same condition they were given. Should any lent material be damaged, regardless of circumstance, all costs associated with replacing, repairing, or repurchasing the item must be covered by the event organizer.
