Robotics Workshop (March 16-20 2020)
What Are C.O.D.E. Workshops?
The C.O.D.E. Initiative workshops are for students with neurodiversity (e.g. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, Dyslexia, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, etc.) aged 8-15. This initiative is led by students from The University of British Columbia (UBC). Through this program, we hope to inspire students with neurodiversity to explore their immense potential. The workshops provide a fun and interactive introduction to various beginners coding and hardware concepts.
In this workshop (offered during Spring Break), the students will be exposed to one of the various applications of coding through robotics. The students will get to assemble a LEGO Mindstorm Robot, and program it according to the activity of the day. The various concepts of programming will come into play as the students work together to program these robots. These activities will strongly focus on problem-solving skills, as well as growing their creativity.
These workshops offer a 1:1 teacher to student ratio to provide students with a comfortable learning environment where they can develop their coding and problem-solving skills. This ratio ensures that students can move at their own pace to gain the most out of the tailored experience. The robotics workshops will also have a group component, designed to teach children team-work.
March 16 - March 20 (weekdays) from 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm.
The workshops will be at the Wesbrook Community Centre, UBC.
What To Bring?
Students are highly encouraged to bring their own laptops. The model or year of the device does not matter. This is so that the students can practice the application we teach in class, at home.
If however, your child cannot bring a device, please do tell us and we will accommodate.
There will be more workshops throughout the year. Information regarding upcoming workshops will be available in May 2020.
If you require financial aid, please fill out this application. Please state in the application which workshop you are applying for.
*PLEASE DO NOTE:
The tax charged on the workshop is not government taxation. It is in place to compensate for the various transaction fee's we must pay for each purchase. However, if you are purchasing more than one workshop at each checkout, the tax will be more depending on the amount of your purchase. In that case, please email us and we will reimburse you for the extra charge.
